WHO CAN RECEIVE COMMUNION
What about Holy Communion? In the Sacrament of the Altar we receive the physical body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is given mysteriously along with the bread and wine. With this sacramental eating and drinking, Jesus is present with us to forgive our sins. The Bible calls this eating and drinking with the Lord and each other fellowship. This fellowship is not a casual acquaintance, but an intimate personal relationship with Christ and each other. This relationship is established by a common confession of the Faith expressed by what is taught in the church body of which you are a member. Our public confession is that of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Furthermore, the Bible clearly states that anyone who does partake of the sacred meal believing what is contrary to the Faith does so to their physical and eternal peril. Since the Lord’s Supper is an expression of our common confession of the Christian faith, we ask that only those persons who are members of a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod receive the Sacrament. If you are a baptized member of the Christian Church and would like to receive a blessing, please come forward and simply cross your arms over your chest, and the pastor will gladly bless you. Those who would like more information about this doctrine or any other teaching of the Lutheran Church are asked to speak with the pastor.
If anyone needs assistance or is unable to come to the communion rail, please let an elder or usher know your need. Pastor will deliver the Sacrament to you in the pew.
